Our friends at Style Weekly did a great job highlighting the new Mending Walls Book and the creative people that made it happen.

Artist Hamilton Glass challenges 30 artists from different cultural backgrounds to collaborate on 16 murals in Richmond, VA about race, status and experiences. The film shows how the artists got to know each other through difficult conversations, how working together ultimately opened their eyes and hearts to the differences between all of us, and how these murals became a symbol of hope.

The Mending Walls RVA Mural Project will partner with Partners in the Arts for an online teacher workshop, with the support of VPM.

"Mending Walls: The Documentary" follows the Mending Walls RVA Mural Project, which took place in Richmond, Va from June 19, 2020 through October 30, 2020. The film airs September 16 on VPM PBS.

As a result of the recent protests over the killing of George Floyd and inspired by the Black Lives Matter movement, local artist Hamilton Glass saw an opportunity - not just for bold new art in RVA’s public spaces, but also for deep, authentic, and sometimes uncomfortable conversations about race, social justice, and equity in Richmond.
