For our mural we were inspired by Hindu deities Kali and Shiva as reference, and their relation to new growth from the things that must be destroyed. We chose to illustrate this not only because it fit into our styles, but more importantly to connect spiritually with each viewer no matter the background.
A lot of things in America needs to be destroyed in order for a new one, a real one, to grow and prosper. All systems that were set up against black people and people of color must be destroyed, for starters. The list goes on… We hope all who have the opportunity to see the wall in person take a tiny moment to self-reflect. From all energies within our spirit the voices of the people will be heard and live on. When you hear BLACK LIVES MATTER, that’s exactly what that means and more, and no matter how you feel, it applies to all of us. Destroy the things that hurt us as people. Give life to the things that help us grow. POWER TO THE PEOPLE.
